Review
When I had a flareup of small whiteheads because of dehydrated skin, I was using my La Roche Posay Cicaplast cream religiously and that’s when I came across a review about this product saying how it helps healing of acne and skin barrier when applied over any spot treatment or active ingredient. I purchased it and started using it over a simple skincare routine and I was surprised to see how even my skin got with continued use. I would say for blemishes to calm down you can see results overnight with significant reductions in the inflammation. However for texture or hyperpigmentation, the results of the active ingredients I was using seemed to be magnified when I layered this on top of my skincare routine. The niacinamide helps with fading spots. Panthenol and opuntia ficus-indica extract help with hydration and skin barrier moisture while Centella asiatica extract helps with soothing skin of irritation. The occlusive ointment balm formulation helps to trap moisture and reduce trans epidermal water loss so skin moisture levels are better preserved. It does not feel oily either which makes it user friendly for oilier skin folks as well. Only a small pea sized amount or lesser is required to spread over the whole face. It probably works best overnight for most people but as I have dry skin, when I used it in the daytime, I did not find it to clog my pores or feel to heavy.
Would I Recommend?
Yes, absolutely, if you face the concerns this helps tackle. If you already have the La Roche Posay Cicaplast cream, I would say try using that first as that renders great results as well and if you feel it doesn’t work well enough for you, you can try this instead. I do think oilier skin folks may prefer the texture of Dr Althea as I do feel La Roche Posay has a visibly higher oil content to its formulation.
