Review:
This product needs no introduction having been in the market for a long time now and being a Paula’s Choice bestseller. As skincare content on social media blew up, this was one of the products to go viral and has probably gone viral multiple times at this point. This is an excellent BHA that helps with acne or congestion, to clean pores and to exfoliate dead skin cells so that newer skin can come up to the surface. It can be used as a spot treatment or all over depending on skin type or needs and generally wouldn’t trigger skin sensitivities unless overused. A pretty solid product to have in your skincare arsenal to provide skin exfoliation. An average skin cycle can vary from 4 to 6 weeks depending on age hence it is beneficial to help remove dead skin cells on the surface of your skin by using an exfoliant 1-2 times a week. I find this to be less abrasive than physical exfoliants and it does the job well in terms of tackling any congestion or pores to smoothen and lightly hydrate skin. The texture can feel a little oily to some and if you do not like that they have a gel version of this product as well.
Would I Recommend:
Yes, but beware that overusing can make your skin feel extra sensitive or affect skin barrier. You can start by using it 1-2 times a week and then proceed accordingly. All skin types can benefit from the uses of a BHA but take note to avoid using with products like retinol as it could make your skin sensitive especially if it is not used to stronger actives. I have heard that the concentration is not 2% in all countries so do check that when purchasing. I find 2% to work well for my skin but I mainly use it when I am nearing my periods and about once a week otherwise. It does not irritate my dry skin and works well in conjunction with my hydrating products in my routine and I avoid using a retinol the same night I use any exfoliants.
